First Edition. Hardcover. The lost battalion was comprised of the 2nd battalion, 131st field artillery, 36th division, U. S. Army. This unit was made up primarily of citizen soldiers of the National Guard and included many Texas members. The author of the book, Hollis G. Allen, then a first lieutenant, was awarded the Bronze Star for valor after the Lost Battalion survivors were finally released at the war's end from the POW camps where they suffered unbelievable hardships. 208 pages including an appendix which list the names and rank of the members of The Lost Battalion. Book was issued without a dust jacket. Rubbing to the spine and edges. This very scarce book is in Nearly Fine condition. No writing, marks or names written in book.
