This book is valuable source material for early Texas. The book is divided into three sections: PRIVATE MEMOIRS, page 1-26; MEMORANDA, pages 27-128; and LETTERS, pages 129-648. The bulk of the book, Letters, etc. , to and from Anson Jones covers a little over 21 years of Texas history from March 19, 1836 to December 19, 1857. Foreword to this edition by John Connally. This edition was reproduced from the First Edition of 1859 belonging to the Amon Carter Museum of Western Art in Fort Worth. Book is referenced in Jenkins, BASIC TEXAS BOOKS #113. 736 pages, index, chronology, tabulation and index of correspondence. Fold out letter and fold out map are in Fine condition. Previous owner's signature on front end page. Maroon binding with silver titles on front and spine. Rubbing to top and bottom of spine. Gilded top edge. Binding is tight, text is clean, no writing. No dust jacket as issued. Book is in Near Fine condition.
