This is the scarce second edition of the 42nd Infantry Division in World War I. This history contains personal accounts by generals, field and company officers, non-commissioned officers, privates, wounded, those taken prisoners, waggoners, telephonists, ambulance and hospital men, and all other personnel which go to make up a division. An excerpt from the book (page 162) describes a battle; ".... the men were prompt in putting on their masks as soon as the presence of gas was recognized, but it was found impossible to keep them on indefinitely and at the same time keep up defense of the sector". 888 pages. All 8 fold out maps are present and in Fine condition. There is a damp stain caused by a water spill that has made the bottom third of the edge of the pages wavy starting at page 853 until the end. This has not affected the text or appearance of the book. Their are no names, writing, or marks in the book. The book is tightly bound and straight. Issued without a dust jacket. Original binding with bright Rainbow Emblem on front and spine. Remarkably good condition to be over 70 years since publication. Book is in Near Fine condition.

First Edition in the hardcover. This small book and story was written when O. Henry lived in Weaverville, North Carolina. At the time he was married to his childhood sweetheart, Sarah Lindsay Coleman. Nearing the end of his life, in this work he tries to come to terms with his chronic alcoholism. Illustrations by W. W. Fawcett. 38 pages. The story was first printed in The Cosmopolitan in July of 1910 under the title , "Adventures in Neurasthenia". The copyright page states "Published, October, 1910" and the title page has the publisher and date of 1910. Original tan cloth binding with paste down of illustration on front. The paste down has some wear due to rubbing. The book itself does not have any names, writing, or marks. Binding is tight. Remarkably well preserved for its age. Book is in Very Good condition.
