In 1845 Theodore Talbot, son of Isham Talbot, senator from Kentucky, started west on his second tour of duty with John Charles Fremont on the historically significant expedition which participated in the conquest of California. He was later assigned to Vera Cruz, Mexico and in 1849 went to Oregon where he joined the first army detachment along the Columbia River. Volume 61 in the American Exploration And Travel Series. 210 pages, bibliography, index. Dust jacket has slight wear and soiling at the edges and folds. Dust jacket and book are in Near Fine condition.
