Due to the scarcity of resources the South was forced to look abroad for means of carrying out naval operations. The author, James D. Bulloch, was the secret service agent selected to manage and direct naval affairs for the Confederacy in Europe. Bulloch's duties included the purchase and construction of vessels, their equipage and dispatchment. These two volumes are a report of his mission. Originally published in 1884 and now very rare. The slipcase has only minor wear and is in Near Fine condition.
