Bulloch, was the secret service agent selected to manage and direct naval affairs for the Confederacy in Europe. Bulloch's duties included the purchase and construction of vessels, their equipage and dispatchment. These two volumes are a report of his mission. Originally published in 1884 and now very rare. Reference: Howes, B949. This new edition with an introduction by Philip Van Doren Stern, is a first edition of this publisher. Vol. I, 460 pages. Vol. II, 459 pages, notes, index. Two hardbound blue cloth volumes in a boxed set with slipcase. Each volume is 6 in. x 8 1/2 in. The two books are in Fine condition, without dust jacket as issued. The slipcase has only minor wear and is in Near Fine condition.
